Michelle lives in Colorado. She had her start as a public school educator. When the Heidemann family was called into homeschooling, they were introduced to the Principle Approach method of teaching as a result of interviewing for a job at a local Principle Approach school in Colorado. Michelle has taught in many different educational disciplines for 20 years but now enjoys teaching her boys at home. She says, “What I thought was just an excellent education for my children became a remarkable pathway for an ever deepening relationship with God for the whole family!” Michelle has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in curriculum and instruction as well as training in Principle Approach methodologies and applications. Michelle also trains, encourages, and networks with others in a small homeschool group.
I'm not really surprised there isn't much here yet. This is a difficult question, and it's one with which I'm always wrestling.
First, I really need to spend more time on my knees here. Second, I need to incorporate consent in the schooling of my children. They are beginning the teen years now. They have to be led to see the value in everything they do. They shouldn't have to ask the standard, "Why are we doing this?" They should know why they are doing it. I have had them ask the question and look at me and before I could answer they respond with "Oh, I know--it's because..." Third, I need to talk to people like you who have the same struggles and learn from you as well.
